Radiator and Cooling System

RADIATOR AND COOLING SYSTEM

Your vehicles’ cooling system is vital to ensuring proper performance. Flushing the coolant at the correct intervals (based on your vehicles’ manufacturer) can help maintain the condition of the coolant and the cooling system as well. During a basic cooling system check, our auto technicians will check for proper flow of coolant, make sure hoses and belts are in good condition, and make sure the cooling fans are supplying enough air flow to cool the radiator properly.

WITHOUT A FULLY FUNCTIONING COOLING SYSTEM, THINGS CAN GET A BIT….HEATED

When your vehicle is running, the parts within your engine are creating some serious friction….and that friction generates large amounts of heat. Engines run most efficiently when they are warmed up and the engine temperature is being maintained by several parts of your cooling system such as, the radiator, cooling fans, water pump, thermostat, pressure cap, overflow tank, and other parts. In order to stabilize the engine temperature, the water pump sends coolant into the engine block to absorb the engine heat. The engine coolant is then run past a thermostat, which regulates the temperature of the coolant. The coolant is then sent to the radiator to release the heat from the engine. The cooling fans keep the radiator cool by providing extra air flow when needed. The coolant is then sent back to the engine block to repeat the cooling cycle. All of the components of your vehicles’ cooling system ensure that your engine is operating at a safe, normal temperature.
